Business Location International has accumulated the longest experience of any firm in strategic business development and Foreign Direct Investment. The activity first founded by Prof Marcel De Meirleir in Europe in 1960, today represents fifty years of advisory and project work in economic location across Europe, North America and South-East Asia.
BLI’s founder and directors have subsequently developed expertise and delivered location advice for manufacturing, research and distribution sites for many of the world’s leading corporations right through the 1970s – 1990s. Over the past fifteen years they have found themselves increasingly contributing to the globalisation of business enterprise.
This exceptional range of experience amounts in practice to more than 1600 location studies, accompanying clients with over 850 individual factories, plants and facilities, and involving almost 600 000 jobs.
PLI has been sold on July 3 2001 to PriceWaterhouse. PriceWaterhouse then again sold it in 2001 to IBM. Founder of BLI Prof. em. Marcel De Meirleir bought the company back in 2004 from IBM and changed its name to BLI, Business Location International. Since the change of name ten years ago, BLI has been active in North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Egypt); the Middle East : the UAE (Dubai and Abu Dhabi) and Oman as well as in China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
